HEAR/SAY EXHIBITION
BRDG PROJECT | DENVER
JUNE 2024
At the intersection of art, science, and health, a new exhibition is taking shape at BRDG Project Gallery in Denver, Colorado. Entitled Hear/Say, the exhibition features local and national artists exploring a scientific topic through an artistic lens, encouraging conversation and open-minded understanding on a controversial subject.
After attending a three-day workshop with presentations from Colorado scientists and community members on the impacts of high concentration cannabis, the artists created new works influenced by the information learned.
Working with this science-informed art model, curator Tya Anthony brings together artists from various perspectives and media.

Shop “high expectations”
From the mind of Denise “The Vamp DeVille” Zubizarreta comes “High Expectations” the immersive weed wardrobe installation.
This clothing store is less about what’s in vogue and more about what’s in your vape. Here, we’ve spun the cotton wheel of fortune to dress you in the day’s finest cannabis couture, complete with quips that’ll make a stoner giggle and a doctor waggle their prescription pad in disapproval.
Each t-shirt in this laughably enlightening collection is like a backwards mullet: party in the front, business in the back. On the façade, you’ll find a slogan so clever it’ll make your grandma rethink her stance on “the devil’s lettuce.” Tailored to tickle the fancy of everyone from moody teenagers who think they’ve discovered Bob Marley for the first time, to parents who still refer to cannabis as “reefer” in hushed tones.
This installation isn’t just an art piece; it’s a public service announcement wrapped in sarcasm and tied with a bow of irony. As you stand behind these tees, looking at your reflection, you’ll see what we often do: cover up the hard facts with a narrative that suits us, all while sporting a fabulous graphic tee.
So come on down to “High Expectations,” where in the world of cannabis narratives, every shirt is a high statement.
